Diagnosis and Management of Meibomian Gland Dysfunction
Song Jong-Suk

Kim Hyo-Myung
Abstract
Prevalence of meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) patients is high in South Korea and many of dry eye patients who seek medical services are associated with MGD. Therefore, we have to examine ocular surface and eyelid margin together in dry eye patients. MGD tends to progress. If the obstruction of excretory duct were untreated for long time, gland acini would result in atrophic change. Therefore, early diagnosis and treatment are necessary to open the obstruction of orifice and excretory duct before Meibomian glands become atrophic.
